ALL CONVERSATIONS TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAYS, 5 – 7 PM. NORMALLY OUR CONVERSATIONS HAPPEN IN-PERSON AT THE LIBRARY. HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID-19, ALL CONVERSATIONS HAPPEN ON ZOOM FOR NOW

THE GOOD NEWS IS THE PRESENTATIONS ARE RECORDED AND WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTERWARDS. 

NOTE THAT OUR PROCESS WILL BE DIFFERENT THIS SEASON, WITH A ONE-HOUR OPENING SESSION FEATURING A CONVERSATION AMONG SEVERAL SPEAKERS AND THEN 45 MINUTES FOR SMALL GROUP DISCUSSIONS BASED ON LOCALITY. DETAILS TO FOLLOW, BUT WE WILL NEED TO KNOW YOUR MUNICIPALITY AND NEIGHBOURHOOD TO CREATE THE SMALL GROUPS.

OUR MONTHLY ONLINE CONVERSATIONS THROUGH THE FALL WILL FOCUS ON THE VALUES SHIFTS NEEDED FOR A ONE PLANET COMMUNITY TO BE CREATED, WHILE THE 2021 SEASON WILL FOCUS ON THE STEPS NEEDED TO TRANSITION TO A ONE PLANET ECONOMY AND SOCIETY

 September 24th, 5 – 7 PM – Creating cultural change/evolution

  • Key issues about change, what it is and how we bring it about, differing perspectives on societal transformation and cultural change, the potential we have to change ourselves, etc.

October 22nd, 5 – 7 PM – Valuing nature (includes, but much more than environmental sustainability)

  • What would it mean for decision-making if this was a core value – Policy changes and local action

November 12th, 5 – 7 PM – Valuing community and cooperation (a sense of shared humanity)

  • What would it mean for decision-making if this was a core value – Policy changes and local action

December 10th, 5 – 7 PM – Valuing quality of life

  • What would it mean for decision-making if this was a core value – Policy changes and local action
