One Planet Community Design Charettes

Under development

A charette is a well-established co-design process involving local citizens and design professionals working collaboratively and intensively together—often over a couple of days—to create a design for a building, a remodeled street or a neighbourhood.

We are already working with one neighbourhood in the City of Victoria and had hoped to pilot the process there in 2020. With Covid, it may not happen now until 2021.

We are looking for other neighbourhoods where this might be done, preferably in partnership with the local Community Association.

We also have some thoughts about developing a region-wide, community-based, multi-year charette to design a One Planet Region, linked to advanced urban systems modeling, in an iterative process that would allow participants to test out ideas and see their implications and impacts in the environmental, social, human development and economic realms.
